J. BOYER
Presentation
Born in August 1990 in Versailles and self-taught painter, J. Boyer is part of the young generation of contemporary painting: the one that moves away from the "all-abstract" and the concept to create a contemporary art woven with oth references of today and savoir-faire established for centuries.
J. Boyer reveals herself with both modesty and frankness in her canvases, where painting appears as an intimate space but also a territory that protects her and shelters her from the madness of the world. Her moods are tinged with melancholy, a feeling reinforced by her choice of a limited colour palette dominated by ochre and mineral tones. The subjects emerge from the gloom, in the manner of Caravaggio and Courbet, revealed by the light whose quest is like an obsession for the artist.
His painting is both terribly timeless and firmly rooted in our own time, a paradox that emerges on canvas in the skilful balance between the materials, the refined settings, the aesthetics of ruin, the dramaturgy familiar from art history and the choice of subjects represented.
