Chaz Guest

Chaz Guest (born in 1961 in Niagara Falls, NY) graduated from Southern Connecticut State University (CT) and the Fashion Design and Illustration program at the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) in New York, NY.

A fascination with Japan has permeated Guest’s life since his formative years, a predilection he traces back to a defining moment at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. The Japanese gymnast Shun Fujimoto’s indomitable display of balance and mental resilience, as he bravely competed despite severe injuries, left an indelible mark on Guest’s artistic sensibilities and continues to influence his practice today.

His work has been the subject of numerous exhibitions, including at the Palais Royal in Paris, the Museum of the African Diaspora (MOAD), Vito Schnabel Gallery, Night Gallery, and the Torrance Art Museum. Chaz Guest’s works are held in the collections of the Ulrich Museum of Art, the Zuzeum Art Centre, and numerous private collections, including those of former President Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Angelina Jolie, and Herbie Hancock. His work has been reviewed and featured in The Guardian, The New York Times, the National Portrait Gallery, and Los Angeles Magazine.
